Early Detection Instrument (EDI)

Welcome to the GameOver Early Detection Instrument (EDI)

This online tool is designed to help teachers, school professionals, and mental health practitioners identify early signs of Problematic Online Gaming (POG) among students aged 12–16.

The EDI includes three key components:

  1. The EDI Handbook, which presents the research findings, theoretical background, and practical prevention and intervention strategies related to the tool.
  2. A Student Questionnaire, to be completed by students aged 12-16, with the teacher’s guidance.
  3. A Teacher Questionnaire, to be completed by a teacher who knows the student well.

Based on the questionnaire results, the system generates a score that helps determine whether a student shows low, moderate, or high risk of problematic gaming. The two questionnaires can be used independently or together, depending on the case and the teacher’s judgment.

This tool is not a diagnostic instrument. It serves as a first step toward early detection, awareness, and appropriate support in the school environment.
